I sketched this from a photograph I took in Paris in 2004.  It started as a study for a future oil, but I thought I'd frame it anyway.

Barcelona.  I was surveying for a photo when this guy and his dog blasted down the wide sidewalk.  He was really cookin' along and the little dog was joyously keeping up.  I'm sure he was a Spaniard and had he stopped we may not have understood each other.  His smile communicated all.  And - the joy of the sun.

I made this one up from several other images and ideas about color, space and light.  It is probably a small upper level entry to a flat, also serving as the occupant's sun deck.  They are inside tending to that frozen pink cocktail that helps them hang on.

At some point I'm going to get back to landscapes but I've been fascinated by the light in some of my photos of Paris and have been exploring.  This will go up in the gallery monday along with other recent ones.  My blog posts will take a bit of a breather as I begin work on 4 or 5 new ones.  They now sit in various states of new beginning around my studio.
